Tech hiring and AI

Something I keep noticing in tech hiring at the moment is that candidates are using AI to align their CVs with the job description, dropping in the right keywords so they make it past the ATS filter. It is hard to call that wrong on the candidate's side, because they are responding to a system that rewards exactly that behaviour. The pressure lands on the hiring team, where the shortlist now reflects who optimised for the bot rather than who can actually do the work.

What that creates is more filtering further down the funnel, not less, because the signal of real capability has been pushed past first-round screening. The interview stage ends up doing the job the shortlist was supposed to do, which is where time and engineering bandwidth start leaking.

Curious how your teams are dealing with this in practice. Where is AI genuinely helping you in hiring, and where has it created problems you did not expect when you brought it into the workflow?
