I used to be Head of People at Tracksuit, where I helped grow our team from 12 in Auckland, NZ to over 200 globally. At one point we were the fastest-growing startup in Australasia, so I've been through a real rollercoaster of experiences - always really keen to share learnings from that time if you're in the thick of it.
While I was at Tracksuit, I was also in charge of visas and global mobility. I found this SO tricky. The (multiple) law firms we worked with couldn't keep pace with our startup working style, and the employee experience was really negative. The lack of updates, general lack of clarity, the whole process being needlessly complicated and opaque.
We started working with a startup-native visa partner called Concord and I became a bit obsessed with the opportunity to make this horrifically slow and confusing process actually clear and great for both the visa applicant and the HR person managing the process. I ended up pitching my vision of how Concord could become THE global mobility partner for startups and high-growth companies, and they asked me to join the team to bring it to life! I feel really passionately that this area is ripe for improvement.
So now I'm at Concord as Head of People and Head of Growth Ops! I joined this community as an HR person first, and I still carry that mandate alongside my past experience scaling Tracksuit.
