Rise of the People Engineer (we're all product managers now)

The trendy new role in People teams is the People Engineer. And in the coming edition of the FNDN Series I'm sharing the exact job description a bunch of companies are using to hire theirs.

And while I find it deeply fascinating that People teams are getting this role now that development is easier and cheaper (Jevons paradox?), what I find equally fascinating is the impact it's having on the broader people function.

It's forcing many of us to become Product Managers.

People who define our strategy, build our roadmap and then craft the concept.

The engineer then deploys it and ensures stability/privacy/security etc.

The people function just keeps getting more exciting IMO, and I'm expecting this trend to accelerate as the value of people keeps increasing inside leaner orgs with higher output people.

Have you seen this role emerge in your own network, and do you think it's here to stay?
