"I don't even know what 'great' looks like from a Chief People Officer."

A CEO I coach said that to me recently. I haven't stopped thinking about it.

I started with something he already knew: his seat is lonely.

His spouse doesn't fully understand. Most of the exec team is focused on their own function.

The best CPOs I've seen sit right beside the CEO and look at the whole business.

They run the same scan the CEO runs, through a human lens:

Where is there friction?

Where is collaboration breaking down?

What left the last meeting with no owner?

Whose behavior is pulling us in the wrong direction?

That vantage point is what makes a great CPO a trusted resource.

And if your CEO can't name what great looks like yet, you may get to help define it.

People leaders: how would you communicate to a CEO what "great" looks like in your seat?

How do you celebrate diversity at work through food?

Hi everyone! 😊

I'm Yuru, founder of Hey! Food is Ready, and I recently joined the community. I'd love to hear your ideas.

Our ethos is bringing people together and celebrating the different cultures and flavours in a team. So I'm curious: how do you promote diversity in your workplace with food?

Do you have a team lunch where people share dishes from home, a cultural celebration you love, or a workshop that got everyone talking? What worked, and what didn't?

Would love to hear what you've tried, and what you'd like to try next. Thank you!

Yuru

Haha, we actually have a saying in Brazil that a coffee invitation is never just about coffee 😂 If someone invites you for coffee, there will usually be food involved too the coffee is almost just an excuse to get everyone around the table!

It still catches me out in the UK 😂 Someone invites me for coffee, I arrive hungry and ask what we’re going to eat, and they say, “Oh, I’ve already eaten.” And I’m like… oh nooo, I forgot again!

We’ve never done anything quite like this at LPC, but I absolutely love the idea. I’m actually leaving LPC next week, but I’ll connect with you on LinkedIn and hopefully I can bring something like this into my next company 😊

I’d also love to hear more about how Hey! Food is Ready works and what the workshops actually look like in practice. Please share more about it here I’m sure other companies in the community might love the idea too!

I really love what you’re creating it gives me a little feeling of home ❤️
